Welcome to Castello dei Cento Tetti.
The building you see is not a medieval castle,
as it might seem at first glance. Its history is much more recent, with its roots
reaching back to the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. The name Castello
dei Cento Tetti refers to the distinctive articulation of the building. From a distance,
the combination of its roofs, volumes and towers creates an unmistakable profile,
almost like that of a small fortified village. But the true character of the castle
lies not only in its architecture. It is the spaces, the details and the traces left
by the people who lived here that tell its story.Over the years, the building has
passed through different eras, changing together with the society around it. Its
rooms have been lived in, altered and adapted to new needs and, in some cases, forgotten.
Every door, every staircase and every wall preserves a part of this transformation.
Today the castle is living a new chapter in its history. The family who recovered
it chose to restore it gradually, preserving as much of its identity as possible
while bringing its rooms back to life. This is therefore not simply about restoring
an old building. It is about bringing a story back to life.A story made of architecture,
people, objects and the small details of everyday life. The rooms have also been
transformed into spaces for hospitality, allowing those who come from elsewhere
to experience the castle not simply as visitors, but as guests.Staying inside a
historic residence means experiencing something very different from an ordinary
hotel. In the evening, when everything becomes quiet, the rooms take on a completely
different atmosphere. The walls, beams, staircases and old structures seem almost
to tell their stories again.Perhaps this is the most important meaning of restoring
the castle. Not simply to preserve a building. But to allow its story to continue.
Because a historic place remains truly alive only when someone walks through it,
inhabits it and, above all, continues to tell its story. This is the story of Castello
dei Cento Tetti.A story that began more than two hundred years ago, but has not
yet come to an end.
